Bowman Lake State Park

Hiking

With one mile of the main Finger Lakes Trail inside Bowman Lake State Park, thru hikers will enjoy its scenic roads amid evergreen and hardwood forests – a favorite passage for many along the length of the trail, however brief.

Heading south, hikers will see a Finger Lakes Trail junction sign pointing in the direction of the Berry Hill Fire Tower, about 2.8 miles north of the park. This is a definite ‘photo opp‘ along the trail and affords those who make the climb incredible panoramic views of surrounding forests and the foothills of the Catskill Mountains in the distance.

Returning to the main Finger Lakes Trail, hikers should continue south to enter Bowman Lake State Park. Shortly after entering the park, a junction at the Kopac Trail will veer right, leading toward the Kopac Trail tent site at Whaley Lake
