Finger Lakes Trail COVID-19 Update
Updated June 1, 2020: FLT staff and members of our Board of Managers are monitoring the situation carefully and are following the guidance of the CDC as well as recommendations from the DEC and State Parks. We are excited to announce our new hiking challenge: the FLT50!
The challenge is FREE! It begins May 1 and will run for the remainder of the calendar year. Complete 50 miles on the FLT, submit your mileage, and you’ll receive an awesome FLT50 patch and sticker so you can show off your accomplishment, and your love of the FLT, to the world. We’ll also send you a certificate and give you a shout-out on our website and all the places we shout-out to our trail-loving friends.
For those of you who put in more miles on the trail, we have some added incentive for you! Complete 50 miles each month for at least three months this year, or run 50 in one day (50K OR 50 miles—we don’t care which!) and you’ll also receive a super-slick FLT50 hat to shield your trail-weary eyes from the sun.
All FLT50 participants will be entered to win fun monthly prizes. Share your stories and photos tagging @fingerlakestrail and use the hashtags #FLT50 and #fingerlakestrail and we might use them in FLT News, in our new monthly e-newsletter, and other promotional materials.
With over 1,000 miles of trail across New York State, we’ve got plenty of space for social distancing. Due to travel restrictions and our own guidance to stay local for your recreational pursuits at this time, we will count ALL miles in the month of May, as long as they are outdoors. So if the FLT isn’t local for you, get on a trail close to home or just out in your neighborhood. We don’t care if you walk, hike, or run. Hopefully no more snow shoeing this year, but you never know. Just get out there and have fun!
