Letchworth State Park

Hiking

Letchworth State Park is known as the Grand Canyon of the East – and with three thunderous waterfalls cascading down a 17-mile stretch of a vast, deep gorge carved by the Genesee River, it lives up to its name.

Letchworth is one of the most beautiful of the Finger Lakes Trail’s branch trails, offering 25 miles (one way) of incredible gorge scenery. In addition to the park’s three main waterfalls, the gorge is home to 50 smaller falls, as well as cliffs towering as high as 600 feet.

The park’s hiking trails offer 66 miles of gorgeous trekking, including seven special miles along the Gorge Trail, featuring scenic overlooks and a trail that leads to the very edge of Letchworth’s breathtaking gorge.

Hikers can navigate to the Letchworth Branch Trail by way of Whiskey Bridge, the trail’s southern terminus where white blazes change to yellow for the length of this Finger Lakes branch trail.
