2012 Tompkins County Hike Series
by Karen Serbonich, Tompkins County Hike Series Coordinator
The 2012 FLTC County hike series (6 hikes) will cross Tompkins County, named after Daniel D. Tompkins, who served as Governor of New York (1807-1817) and Vice President of the United States of America (1817-1825).
This series will cross 58.8 miles. Hikes will vary from 6.9 miles to 11.6 miles. Hikes will take place rain or shine. It is never too early to start conditioning your muscles. It has been such a mild and snowless winter; we are confident that you have been outdoors staying in shape. Below are links the State lands and Finger Lakes Land Trust preserves we will traverse. These links contain interesting historical and geological information.
- Danby State forest

Dates are April 28, May 19, June 9, July 28, August 25, and September 22. The fee will remain at $40 and covers bus transportation, a completion patch, sag wagon supplies and the picnic. The picnic will coincide with the Fall Weekend at Treman State Park. We hope you will consider taking part in the whole Fall Campout weekend.
