FLT Map M22 in Northern Chenango County east of Cortland, NY

Hike description

This hike is an 8 mile loop on FLT Map M22 in Northern Chenango County east of Cortland, NY. For 5 miles we will follow the FLT from the Otselic River to Warner Road. Then we will return via the DEC truck trail. Initially we will climb 500 feet to reach the top of Truman Hill, an elevation of 1,780 feet. The trail then proceeds south through the forest passing the Winston Braxton Bench. The highest elevation we will reach is 1,940 feet. We will also offer a shorter 3 mile hike with less hills. 9:00 AM at the Otselic River DEC Fishing Access Parking Lot off of NY State Route 26 just south of Bucks Brook Road. Directions to the meeting location (click for map):

The fishing access is well marked. It is on NY State Route 26 approximately 2 miles south of the village of Otselic in the northwest corner of Chenango County, where NY State Route 26 and the FLT cross the Otselic River. It’s milepost 18.5 on Map M22.

Hike Report

This past Saturday, August 1st, was the Ed Sidote Hike, led by Donna and Bruce Coon. It took place on FLT Map M22 in northern Chenango County, we started the hike just east of the FLT crossing of NY Rte 26.
Seventeen hikers from across the region participated in this event on an extremely gorgeous day, with most doing the full nine mile hike while a few did the shorter three mile version.
